Welcome,
          My name is Joey Harrington. I am a theatre costume technology graduate student at the University of Texas.  My thesis project Homage to Handmade: An Exploration of Pre-Industrial Needlework,  is the beginning of a lifelong exploration of the beauty and importance of traditional craft and handmade items in an age of rapid technological development. My guiding questions were; "Why make something by hand when it could be made by a machine?" and  "How can we maintain the practice of traditional crafts?" My journey begins with a study of 18th century men's fashion. I learned about historical tailoring, wig making, embroidery, and bobbin lace making. I would like to share my progress with you.
